It all began back in 1968, when founders Doug & Jim first started out selling toys, models and bike parts, operating from their small corner store in central Christchurch. With a combination of Jim's wife, Mary, and Doug's wife, Eileen - the name 'Mar-leen' was born.
Marleen grew and developed from a small local corner store, to a regional wholesaler that served the South Island of New Zealand. Another leap saw Marleen develop into a strong leading national provider of Wholesale Bicycle Parts and Accessories.
Marleen's ability to continually provide fast, efficient supply of product, along with stocking a wide range of Parts and Accessories, led to these dramatic changes over the years. As space grew tight Marleen shifted from that small store to a new office & small warehouse. From there it was to Addington with a larger warehouse with more room, then once more to Wigram, where we are today.
And although over the years business has changed dramatically, and the small corner store is no more - Marleen has always upheld the good old fashioned values the business was very first based on; friendly service and fast delivery.
Our extensive range of products reaches over 10,000 lines. We are determined to be the one-stop shop for bicycle retailers in the general day to day workshop and retail requirements. We believe in supporting the broad product mix that every bicycle shop requires on a daily basis. Maintaining this broad range has led to the development of excellent stock control and product management systems to efficiently store and deliver stock.
In addition to our standard parts and accessory lines we are also distribution agents for leading brands such as Maxxis, BBB, CST, Park Tool, iXS, Evoc, Race Face, DT Swiss, Spank, Easton, Bellwether, Basil, Profile Design, Pure Sports Nutrition, 4iiii, Magnum, Hiplok, Kids Ride Shotgun, KMC, Nutcase, AMS, NiteRider, Kids Ride Shotgun, Joe’s No Flats, Urban Iki, Praxis, Pilo, Rock'N'Roll, SR Suntour, Sunrace, Tektro, TRP and our own in-house brand, Ontrack. We are also the Bosch eBike systems Service agents for New Zealand.
Our team of staff includes management, customer support, accounts, marketing and design, warehouse staff, workshop and sales representatives. We are dedicated to providing a fun and rewarding workplace whilst maintaining the highest standards of service for our customers.
The Marleen sales staff are our first-line-of-contact with all our customers and cover stores New Zealand wide. Our sales representatives are willing to go the extra mile to provide training, service and sales support. This team is supported by our internal Customer Support Hub, based at our Christchurch HQ who also provide excellent over-the-phone support, sales information, tech support and much more.
Our in-house Design, Media & Marketing team are also a valuable asset, continually promoting our brands as well as providing marketing solutions for local stores and our sales reps.
The warehouse team comprises passionate people who are fast and efficient at ordering processes, organisation, logistics and outwards/inwards goods handling.
We have a fast growing workshop and service center that caters to a range of specialised servicing as well as Bosch eBike Systems Servicing for New Zealand.
